First Class Titanic Dinner and Presentation

Since the age of 14 (or so) I have held a deep fascination for the story of the Titanic. There is just something about the mystery and tragedy of the “Unsinkable Ship” that took me in and just held on. The rumor that I had a great-great-great aunt and uncle that passed on the Titanic only deepened my fascination and lit a fire within me to learn everything I could about the tragedy. I’ve poured over books and documentaries to learn as much as I could.
Several months ago I was approached with an opportunity to photograph an event at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. The Museum, while running their Titanic Artifact Exhibit, was hosting an evening with Paul-Henry “PH” Nargeolet, Director of Underwater Research & Expedition Leader for Premier RMS Titanic Inc. Commander Nargeolet led the dive that initially found the Titanic’s final resting place, and has since led over 30 dives down to the wreck site. He and his teams have mapped the Titanic’s debris field and excavated more than 5,500 artifacts.
Being this physically close to the Titanic story was a dream come true for me. Being able to shake this man’s hand and hear first hand about what it is like to see the actual ship was nothing short of amazing. It makes the tragedy seem so much more real. I will forever be thankful for this wonderful opportunity!
